About KGCE

Government had as per G.O (MS) No 177/85; dated 01/08/1985 ordered the discontinuance of K.G.C.E. courses, in view of their loss of relevance in the broad spectrum of Technical and Vocational education in the State. However, in pursuance of the Judgment in OP No. 3450/86 (and other OP’s covered by the Judgment). Government decided that the courses should be made more useful with better emphasis on practical work, and allowed to continue. The diverse aspects relating to the revival of the KGCE course have been studied in detail and revised scheme of studies... The Examinations will be conducted by the Controller of Technical Examinations of Kerala. It is certified with PSC (Public Service Commission) and NSDC. The students whom are completed KGCE course can get an opportunity to get jobs in Government, semi government, private sector and for self employment. All the Private Engineering Institutes in the State will be under the overall control of the Director of Technical Education.

  • Every student admitted to the course shall seek Registration from the Board of Technical Examinations, with relevant documents, in the prescribed form. The registration shall be valid of maximum of 5 years.

  • Instructional Duration of the Course
  • The actual teaching hours per year will be at least 1920 hours. The remaining time available will be utilized for revision exercise, periodical tests and examinations and other activities. The months of May and June being the period of annual vacation. The number of normal teaching hours will be split up as follows

  • Promotion to the Second Year
  • A candidate shall be promoted to the second year, if she/he has attended the first year and has fulfilled the conditions of attendance and tests. The students must pay their first year fee completely.

  • OBJECTIVES
  • To develop overall skills in creating and presenting a work of art. The work will be the manifestation of the skills achieved by the student as part of the curriculum.

  • Topic:
  • Each student has the choice to undertake a project work in either (a) Fine art or (b) Animation. It can be a public art/design project or a short animation film.

    (a) In the case of animation, each student has to animate a short film of 60 second duration (including credits) in video format. The project work should accompany the record of the activities undertaken (the documents regarding the process of making the film) to complete the document in A4 size with usual introduction. The same has to be certified by the Head of the Institution and shall be presented for the end of the year evaluation.

    (b) In the case of public art or design project, each student has to undertake an art work on public place. It can be a painting or drawing or both. It can also be the display of a design work at public place. The photographs of the work and the preparatory/ backend activities carried out as a part of the project shall be organized in separate portfolio in print and video format. The project work, photographs of the project work and documents of preparatory work has to be certified by the Head of the Institution and shall be presented at the end of the year evaluation. The criteria for evaluation are as follows:
